This painting was produced in 1988 as the cover to the novel Oath of Gold — the third book in The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy by author Elizabeth Moon, published by Baen Books.
The series is about the development in body and spirit of a young farmgirl who leaves her home to embark upon a quest to become a paladin warrior. I read the manuscript and chose to produce a strong, heroic image of the main character as a champion.
This is an acrylic painting on artboard. The original painting is still in my possession.
